Why Toddler Tuesday Matters for Houston Families

Toddler Tuesday, sponsored by Memorial Hermann-GoHealth Urgent Care, runs weekly from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Cullen Veranda near the Lake House Café. Each session features:
– Interactive story time with costumed characters
– Themed crafts and sensory play
– Soft play equipment from Toddler Towns
– Activities led by community partners like Collaborative for Children
This free event promotes imagination and social development in children ages 1–5, while offering caregivers meaningful ways to engage in their child’s learning journey.

Collab-Lab: A Mobile Classroom for Future-Ready Kids

The Collab-Lab is not your average educational vehicle!  It’s a fully equipped mobile learning lab that brings STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) directly to families at no cost. Inside, children and parents explore interactive stations that promote problem-solving, creativity, and collaboration.

Each week at Discovery Green, the Collab-Lab offers themed activities aligned with the story time books, such as:
– Building simple machines with blocks and gears
– Exploring nature through magnifying lenses and sensory bins
– Creating art inspired by scientific concepts
– Learning basic coding through age-appropriate games
These experiences are designed to be developmentally appropriate and inclusive, supporting children of all learning styles and abilities.

A Dual-Generation Approach to Learning

Collaborative for Children’s mission is rooted in dual-generation learning which empowers both children and their caregivers. At Toddler Tuesday, the Collab-Lab team provides parents with tips, tools, and resources to extend learning at home. From take-home activity guides to expert advice on child development, families leave with more than just memories, they leave with momentum.

– Promote curiosity and a lifelong love of learning

The Collab-Lab is staffed by trained educators and aligned with our Centers of Excellence, ensuring every interaction supports holistic child development.

Real-World Impact: A Parent’s Perspective
