June is Men’s Health Month

Articles

June is Men’s Health Month!  Statistics show that men deal with more illness than women, and die younger.  During this month, we are all encouraged to wear blue to help raise awareness about the importance of male health.  Here are a few things you can do to help the men in your family stay active and healthy.

  1. Go for an evening walk. Help dad get moving and get some fresh air.  Bring the stroller and the dog and walk around your neighborhood or a nearby park.  Don’t forget the sunscreen!  Bike rides are great too!  Click here for a list of Houston parks.
  2. Sleep! Men should get 7-8 hours of sleep each night.  (Don’t wake Dad up too early on the weekends).
  3. Ask the men in your life how they are feeling. Both mentally and physically.  Talking about your feelings can help you stay in good mental health.
  4. Time to schedule a doctor’s appointment! Encourage the men in your life to get a checkup and schedule a cleaning with a dentist.
  5. Try cutting back on carbs and sugar. Also, challenge the family to go vegetarian once a week.  It’s a great way to incorporate new foods into your diet. Click here for a list of easy vegetarian options.
