Collaborative for Children Receives More Than $1 Million From Hess
Corporation’s Learning for Life Partnership

Funds support critical early childhood education program

HOUSTON (April 22, 2024) – Collaborative for Children is pleased to announce that Hess
Corporation (NYSE: HES) recently awarded the nonprofit $318,270 as part of the Hess Learning
for Life Partnership. To date, Collaborative for Children has received more than $1 million
through the Learning for Life Partnership.

Funds from the Learning for Life Partnership grants go toward expanding Collaborative for
Children’s Centers of Excellence program which helps address school readiness for Houston’s
most vulnerable children. The Centers of Excellence model supports child care providers by
helping them nurture the skills in young children through age 5 that are essential to seizing the
opportunities of the future. The aim is to give every child the opportunity for a bright future and
also contribute to a sustainable workforce in Houston ready to address the challenges of the
future.

Collaborative for Children seeks to establish sixty new Centers of Excellence in neighborhoods
across the greater Houston area, to reach their goal of 125 centers by 2030.
“The generous contribution from Hess has profoundly influenced the Centers of Excellence in
the Third Ward by bolstering educational resources, center equipment and STEAM technology,”
said Dr. Melanie Johnson, President and CEO of Collaborative for Children.
“All children deserve an opportunity to pursue their dreams,” said Greg Hill, President and Chief
Operating Officer of Hess. “With this partnership, we are supporting the needs of underserved
children at every level of their development.”

Announced in 2021, the Learning for Life Partnership is a $9 million, three-year financial
commitment by Hess to fund educational programs and support services for children in
economically disadvantaged communities in Houston.
